Iacopo is a master’s student in mechanical engineering, having completed his bachelor’s degree in 2023. Passionate about boating since childhood and an experienced dinghy racer, he chose to focus on motorized propulsion for small and medium-sized boats by joining the Uniboat team in 2022. He went on to become CTO and then team leader, closely overseeing all aspects of the prototype catamaran’s design. In collaboration with the structures department, he proposed, designed, and patented a counter-rotating and traction propeller system. The success of the product, presented and tested in two different competitions, inspired him to consider its application to commercial boats, which led to the creation of the COMPETR startup, with the ambition of giving rise to a new reality in the nautical sector.
