Michel Kaine

Founder & CEO

I’m a Mechanical Engineer and innovator passionate about developing sustainable technologies that create real-world impact. Since earning my B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal, I’ve focused my work across Africa and the Caribbean, driving innovation in clean technology and community development.

I’m proud to hold several patents, including a hand pump design for efficient water collection and a bioremediation solution that neutralizes heavy metals found in sargassum seaweed, an innovation that has the potential to transform the agriculture industry.

As the Founder of Grogenics, my mission is to protect ocean and soil health through ecological, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions. Since 2018, our team has been tackling the sargassum landing crisis through a three-step process: Collecting, Upcycling, and Generating biochar and compost. Our work empowers local communities, from artisanal fishers and women-led farms to resorts and governments, promoting a true sea-to-soil-to-table approach.

In addition, as CEO and owner of Award IPC since 1982, I’ve led the development and manufacturing of specialty rubber products for clients such as Hydro-Québec and Bell Mobility.

Always eager to collaborate with others who share a passion for sustainability, technology, and innovation.
